Bottega Bandito Cafe & Deli in the heart of Prospect 🌹

Bottega Bandito is a sister restaurant to Anchovy Bandit located at 98 Prospect Road Prospect 5082, a trendy delicatessen and cafe in Prospect’s core. They pride themselves on being inspired by tradition, but not bound by it. The majority of cuisine is prepared in-house, and find fresh-baked bread, pastries, small items, house-made sauces, and, of course, locally roasted coffee.

Shane Wilson (Executive chef, ex-Hentley Farm, Bistro Dom, Orana) is joined in the kitchen by Michael Henderson, a former Hentley Farm colleague. Wilson’s produces “a bakery amount” of sourdough focaccia every day. The bread is cooked next door in a woodfired pizza oven, and it serves as the basis for Bandito’s sandwich menu, which includes sopressa, fior di latte, basil, fresh tomato, and pickled zucchini and spinach; and more.

Breakfast milk buns with sausage, egg, pancetta, provolone, and HP sauce; eggs on toast with morcilla and mustard pickle, and smoked bacon and xo beans; and cocktails starting at 10 a.m. are on the menu.

Stimulate your brunch with a Bloody Bandito created from tomatoes, gin, and kimchi juice from San Marzano; a Taiwanese spiky dairy tea prepared with black ice cream, apricot jam, Strega, milk, or a Bellini with a home-made concentrate of plum and prosecco.

The fit-out (and branding of the studio by Divide Design links Bandito to the next door but retains an identity which is quite distinctive, as well as terrazzo and floor tile floors, green marble, wood countertop, and a back bar, loaded with bottles of San Pellegrino; Bandito-branded sugo, chili oil, truffle honey, and olive oil, as well as Mutti canned tomatoes, Ortiz anchovies, and different sauces, pickles, and preserves.

The atmosphere, however, is more like that of a neighborhood diner than that of a corner store. It’s inviting and warm, yet it’s both familiar and fresh at the same time.
